CNBC: For Your Pie, Slow and Steady Growth Wins the Race

Many companies are spending their time to hone operations, perfect their model, and lay a foundation for long-term success.

Slow and steady wins the race - but in a business world where pressures can force companies to strive for overnight success, many companies race ahead like the hare of the famous fable. However, as a recent CNBC.com story pointed out, many companies are instead spending their time to hone operations, perfect their model, and lay a foundation for long-term success.

Your Pie, the originator of the down-the-line, fast casual pizza segment, has subscribed to this philosophy in order to create a franchise model that will garner greater success in the long run.

"We'd like to grow more aggressively, but we're not doing it at the expense of watering down our culture," Bucky Cook, CEO of Your Pie, told CNBC.com. An investment in R&D has helped the brand increase same-store sales at new locations roughly 35% over old stores. The brand has 35 restaurants open, and plans to add 5 more in 2016 before adding an additional 25 to 30 in 2017.
