Montgomery Advertiser: Sylvan Learning Helps Students Engage in STEM Education

Local students in Montgomery participated in the brand’s educational and fun Grand STEM challenge.

Students in Montgomery participated in Sylvan Learning*'s Grand STEM Challenge this week. The program is educational, but teamwork-oriented and fun for students of all ages.

"The kids don't even realize that they're learning," Sylvan Learning Education Director, Misty Mitchell told the Montgomery Advertiser. "This keeps their minds working. So many activities during the summer don't take much brain activity, but this actually pushes them to challenge themselves and learn from each other."

During the program, students were split into teams and worked together using K'nex toys to find a solution to a real world problem—which was, in this case, creating a crash-proof vehicle that can transport an egg. The program allows students to exercise creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
