Crain's Dallas: MOOYAH Burgers, Fries & Shakes COO Offers Advice For Those in the Franchising Industry

"I thought I knew everything when I was in my late 20s," says Michael Mabry. "I was wrong."

MOOYAH Burgers, Fries & Shakes* COO Michael Mabry worked to further his culinary career in the 1990s with Macaroni Grill as he was working to finish his culinary degree. The team quickly promoted him to Director of Franchise Operations. "I had amazing opportunities available to me," said Mabry in an interview with Crain's Dallas. "I could take ongoing education classes, business courses and Spanish language classes. I could take a week-long course at Harvard University."

Rather than pursue his education, Mabry chose to concentrate on his career. "I focused on my career because I thought I knew everything when I was in my late 20s," Maby said to reporter Nicholas Sakelaris. "I was wrong. I didn’t get all the knowledge I could have." Now COO of MOOYAH Burgers, Fries & Shakes, Mabry has passed this knowledge on to the next generation. "Whether it’s a trade show or a conference, I tell them to go," said Mabry. "The things they learn and the people they meet will help them to become better leaders."
