Baltimore Business Journal: Philly Pretzel Factory Opening in Baltimore Area

Mike Ward's entrepreneurial spirit is what led him to Philly Pretzel Factory. 

Ward recently signed the lease for a location in Bel Air's Greenbrier Shopping Center off of Route 22, and has plans for a second location in Harborplace's Light Street Pavilio. He is also looking for a location in White Marsh and on the Boardwalk in Ocean City.

There are more than 150 franchised locations in the country. Philly Pretzel Factory offers franchisees two different kinds of locations, according to Tom Monaghan, Philly Pretzel Factory chief development officer.

A traditional store is typically 800 to 1,000 square feet and costs $280,000 to $300,000 to open. There is also the option of having a smaller micro store inside of a larger retailer such as Walmart. That requires an investment of about $150,000.

There are four other Philly Pretzel Factory locations in Maryland in Ijamsville, Elkton, Salisbury and Cambridge.
