TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®, is a national, full service franchised moving company that Moves People Forward® and giving back to the community has been a long tradition since its founding.

Each spring, TWO MEN AND A TRUCK locations nationwide collect donations to deliver to women’s and family shelters through its Movers for Moms® campaign. Franchises partner with various organizations to collect these items to make Mother’s Day special for all moms, regardless of their circumstances.

“TWO MEN AND A TRUCK was started by a mom and there have always been a lot of women involved in the company, so supporting women's shelters was a natural fit,” said Mandi Schneider, TWO MEN AND A TRUCK San Antonio Marketing and Community Relations Manager. “And we chose Mother's Day because being in a shelter doesn't mean you shouldn't get to celebrate being a mom.”

By partnering with local businesses, schools and other organizations, TWO MEN AND A TRUCK franchises are able to collect essential care items, such as soap and shampoo, for women staying in domestic abuse or homeless shelters. Once all donations are collected, move teams pick up and deliver the items on or around Mother’s Day.

Each franchise gets to choose who they want to work with. This year, Schneider’s location picked a smaller shelter that helps women all over Texas. As a survivor of abuse herself, Schneider understands how important essential products can be to women in these shelters.

“It's really about collecting items that we might take for granted,” she noted. “Someone in a dangerous situation is trying their best to get out and may not have time to grab the essentials. That’s why we supply all of those little things like toothbrushes and socks — it just makes things a little more comfortable for them.”

In 2022, Movers for Moms was a national program in 47 states, with all franchise locations participating, supporting hundreds of shelters across the United States. Through the campaign, the brand collected more than 266,000 items, bringing the total items donated to nearly 2 million throughout the company’s 15-year program history. Some of the top performing locations included Jacksonville, FL (28,036 items), Sioux Falls, S.D. (26,000 items) and Battle Creek, MI (17,480 items).

“San Antonio has been very generous over the years,” said Schneider. “They have been outstanding, so I’m really looking forward to this year.”

Schneider added that she is preparing by utilizing the internet for donations, by creating  an Amazon wishlist for the center. She is also working with community donation partners such as YMCA and KinderCare, as well as schools and local radio stations.

This will be the first year Alyssa Watts, marketing coordinator for TWO MEN AND A TRUCK in Detroit, is running a Movers for Moms campaign as she started with her two franchises last September. “I'm excited to create those relationships with all of our collection sites and both our shelters that we're working with,” she said. “We’ve been promoting it and getting the community involved, and we’re looking forward to May.”

Movers for Moms is just one of the cause marketing campaigns that TWO MEN AND A TRUCK participates in on a yearly basis. During the fall of 2022, the brand collected and donated a total of 43,071 items through campaigns such as Movers for Mutts (16,647 items), Movers for Meals (12,794 items), Movers for Military (11,770 items) and Truckload of Warmth (1,860 items).

“Cause marketing is impactful just because it's community engagement,” said Watts. “Being involved in a lot of charity work is not a chore. It makes us feel good by bringing joy to other people.”

Schneider added that, with TWO MEN AND A TRUCK being a moving business, it touches all areas of the community. “Our customers are aware of what we do and I think marketing this way is successful for us because of that reach that other businesses might not have,” she said. “TWO MEN AND A TRUCK gives back to the community, they don’t just take.”
