Best in Class Education Center Continues to Grow in Previously Untapped Markets
Longtime Best in Class customers plan to open the first North Carolina location.

Originally from India, Kavitha Guduru has moved all around the world following her and her husband’s careers. Having two daughters, finding the most effective and specialized education opportunities is always top priority. While the family was living in Seattle, Guduru discovered Best in Class Education Center, a supplementary education business. Founded by Hao Lam, a Vietnamese immigrant, the company understands the extra assistance immigrants may need as they transition into an American lifestyle. This, and the overall mission of Best in Class, sat well with Guduru and made her feel completely comfortable having her daughter use their services. When the family left Seattleto move to North Carolina in 2011, Guduru and her daughter were sad to leave Best in Class behind.

“Sending our eldest daughter to Best in Class laid a very good foundation at an early age,” mentioned Guduru. “Best in Class helped her perform consistently well throughout her school years, scoring straight A’s!”

After settling in North Carolina, Guduru decided to leave her job in IT and achieve the American dream of owning her own business.

“As an immigrant, there are a lot of aspects of business ownership that I am not as well-versed in, which is why I thought franchising would be a great way to achieve my personal career goals,” said Guduru. “I knew owning a business in the education division would align with my passions and do very well in this market.”

After researching different options, Guduru and her husband knew that there was no other system that matched the opportunity that Best in Class provides. Already knowing the business model, the corporate team, and the mission of the brand, they felt comfortable signing on to be franchisees.

“Best in Class offers support for students from Kindergarten to 12th grade, so we will be able to really grow with our students,” mentioned Guduru. “Our mission is to help the community achieve any academic goals, which we believe is possible with Best in Class. We saw first-hand the success it had for our daughter and would like other kids in our community to have the same achievement.”

Guduru’s Best in Class Education Center will be located at 3540 Davis Drive, Morrisville, NC, and it will be the first center in the entire state. This location will service the Morrisville community along with part of the Cary neighborhood. The greater Raleigh-Durham area is home to three large universities: Duke University, University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill, and North Carolina State University.

“While being the first franchisees in a state is a bit daunting, we are happy to have an open slate and endless possibilities for growth,” noted Guduru. “Our area is full of well-educated families and likeminded people who value education. We are excited to provide this new service to a community that will find a lot of value in the service.”

The expansion into a new market like North Carolina is part of the brand’s development initiatives in 2018. This aggressive and successful growth has been recognized by Entrepreneur Magazine as Best in Class Education Center was ranked 248 on the Franchise 500 List.

“Our team is so excited to bring Kavitha Guduru on as a franchisee, especially as our first location in North Carolina,” said Best in Class Education VP of Franchise Recruitment & Development Sharon Peterson. “The entrepreneurial spirit she has to grow the brand in a new market and the passion to help her community is exactly the type of franchisees we look for as we quickly grow.”

In 2017, Best in Class signed their first locations in Florida and Michigan, and in 2018, in addition to North Carolina, the brand singed the first location in Georgia. Best in Class is thrilled to have had such a busy and profitable year and doesn’t expect the fire to burn out any time soon.

“It is extremely rewarding to watch our franchisees find success in their local territories and provide tools for students to better their academic lives,” said Peterson. “Currently, we are focusing our growth in Texas, California, and New Jersey.”
