As mosquito season in Dallas heats up right along with the weather, Mosquito Joe* is booming with an estimated increase in customers from 25 to 200.

"They are concerned about Zika and what they can do to help and how we can prevent it," said Mosquito Joe franchisee Veronica Sites. "We cannot prevent what mosquitoes transmit. We can help control and manage the mosquito population."

Mosquito Joe sprays a barrier around customers' yards, protecting them from pests for weeks at a time. The company is growing in DFW with plans for 16 total locations in the works.

The whole company has been growing rapidly as the public's awareness of mosquito-borne illness continues to grow.

"When you compare us to say, the restaurant industry, and they talk about same source sales are 1 percent or 2 percent, I mean our same source sales are off the charts," said Mosquito Joe CEO Kevin Wilson. "Largely because it's a relatively new industry."
