Fast Casual: More Chains Introducing Special LTOs for Lenten Followers

The number of restaurant chains adding Lent-friendly LTOs keeps growing.

More and more chains are participating in the nationwide rush to hook customers this time of year as more diners observe the fish-laden, meat-free Lenten season. The religious observance runs for 40 days, ending on Easter Sunday and is observed by fasting from sources of meat, like beef and poultry. Many of the religions involved in Lenten fasting, however, do not consider fish to be a meat source.

Here are a few brands offering special LTOs this month:

MOOYAH Burgers, Fries & Shakes*: The chain is launching the Meatless Beast and features the brand’s black bean veggie patty loaded with two cheeses—cheddar and pepper jack—friend onion strings, lettuce, tomato, ranch and MOOYAH sauce.

Checkers* & Rally’s: Both brands will serve the Deep Sea Double—two fish filets on a toasted bun and Cheddar shrimp.

Arby’s: In response to guest requests for fish on the Meat Mountain concoctions, the chain is offering Meat Mountain Denali-style through March, which includes fish at no extra cost. The name relates to the highest mountain in Alaska, where the chain sources its wild-caught Alaskan Pollock.
