QSR Magazine: In-N-Out is America’s Favorite Burger Chain

Recent study identified American consumers’ favorite quick-service chains.

Topping off the burger category for American consumers is In-N-Out Burger according to a new study. The study from Market Force Information ranked restaurant concepts in each segment including burgers, pizza, chicken, sandwiches and Mexican food.

“Across categories, the perceived value [quality of food plus price] is very important. [Quick serves] perform well if customers feel they are getting value for money spent,” says Cheryl Flink, chief strategy officer for Market Force. “Also, service matters, whether that is speed of service or friendliness of service.”

In the burger segment, In-N-Out came out on top for every customer experience category surveyed. Culver’s and Five Guys were close behind in many of the categories, while McDonald’s came in last for five of eight categories.

Another important finding from the study is that quick-service guests are using technology more to place their orders. Over the 90 days before consumers took the survey, 55 percent had used a smartphone app or table tablet to order their meals.
