In the franchising industry, the home services segment is one that stands out. That’s why it’s often saturated with competitors—from consistent consumer demand to climbing popularity among aspiring entrepreneurs, home service brands are popping up at a record rate. However, there’s one segment of the industry that’s far from saturated: windows and glass. There’s one concept within that niche that’s managed to position itself as the undisputed leader in the industry—The Glass Guru.

For nearly 15 years, The Glass Guru has been revolutionizing the glass and window space. Instead of relying solely on replacement as a solution to glass related problems, the brand has tapped into unique technology that enables it to repair foggy windows and make them clear again. As the only concept providing this service in the U.S., demand for The Glass Guru has never been higher. That’s why the brand is experiencing rapid growth as it aims to break into new markets across North America.

Leading that ongoing expansion initiative is co-founder and CEO Dan Frey. After realizing that there was a hole in the glass and window industry that needed to be filled and founding the concept alongside his wife, Joy, Frey has been helping the brand stay ahead of the curve in order to help the brand reach its full potential.

He said, “What ultimately led us to franchising is that fact that this is a really unique concept in the industry. While our signature foggy window repair service isn’t the only service that we offer anymore, it’s still what we lead with, and we’re the only providers of the service in the entire country. Given that this is such a common problem, that really creates a great business ownership opportunity for our franchisees.”

Aspiring business owners who are looking to break into the glass and window industry gain access to unparalleled competitive advantages by signing on to be a part of The Glass Guru’s system. In addition to being a part of a brand that boasts a service that no one else can provide, franchisees receive both initial and ongoing support in addition to access to a proven, simple and low cost business model. Plus, The Glass Guru’s franchisees aren’t necessarily tradespeople who are skilled in glass repair—in fact, according to Frey, the brand’s local owners are often rooted in business backgrounds.

“The glass and window industry has been a closed business for decades. It’s been limited to family businesses and tradespeople who have worked in this space their whole lives. We’ve created a unique entry point that didn’t previously exist,” Frey said. He added, “We love working with people who have a burning entrepreneurial spirit. Although we are in the home services industry, our ideal franchise candidate is not a tradesman. In fact, most of our owners had zero glass or home services experience prior to purchasing their Glass Guru franchise. And while we have a diverse group of Glass Guru owners, those with business, sales and marketing backgrounds tend to be the best executioners of our model and hence get the best results,” said Frey. “One thing we don't expect our owners to ever do is repair windows or install glass. We help our owners build strong teams around them so that they can grow the business from the helm in business management and development while their skilled team in the office and field drive new-customer acquisition and sales.”

Right now, The Glass Guru has 87 locations that are currently open for business in communities across the country. And with a goal of adding 30 locations to its system by the end of 2018, The Glass Guru will be in the 115-unit range before the year comes to a close. Over the next five to 10 years, the brand’s ultimate target is to have 250 locations in North America. Once that region is saturated—starting with major metropolitan areas like Los Angeles and Philadelphia, The Glass Guru will take its one of a kind business ownership opportunity to international markets.

Franchisees who sign on to become a member of The Glass Guru team can expect their initial investment to range from $67,050 to $184,000, including a franchise fee that falls between $17,600 and $65,000. The Glass Guru also requires franchisees to have liquid capital of $67,050 to $184,000.

“While The Glass Guru has been recognized as a top low-cost franchise that can be started for less than $50,000, the earnings potential and ROI can match and even exceed that of many much more expensive franchise concepts. The glass and window business is a highly overlooked opportunity that allows franchisees to tap into high margins and great profit potential,” Frey said.
