For the last four years, Mike Blake has serviced North Dallas pools with his successful Sapphire Pools and Spas company. And though business has been great, Blake found himself wanting to scale up and grow the company, but was unsure exactly how to proceed under the Sapphire Pools name.

After looking around for opportunities in franchising, Blake eventually came across the Pool Scouts* brand and knew he had found the partner he was looking for to take his business to the next level.

“I had a small existing pool company, but I had reached the point where I had stopped growing,” said Blake. “The marketing and sales side is where I knew I really needed some help, and Pool Scouts had the support team and the structure that I needed.”

With an established core of customers in North Dallas, Blake plans to use the proven marketing and promotional strategies of the Pool Scouts brand to expand his base and grow further into some of the surrounding communities.

“I am doing well in North Dallas right now, but I want to grow into the Frisco area and beyond,” said Blake. “Looking at the market, there’s high demand for pool repair and maintenance services and a concept like Pool Scouts has the opportunity to thrive.”

Blake will be starting his official Pool Scouts training on February 26th with plans to be up and running under the Pool Scouts name in early March. While he points out that most of the business operations will remain consistent, so the transition from Sapphire Pools and Spas to Pool Scouts should be smooth, his existing customers should notice one big difference right off the bat.

“We have great customers already, and they are not going to notice any negative impact from the move to Pool Scouts,” said Blake. “But they will notice that Pool Scouts has a different level of service, a higher set of standards, where our customers will be getting even more than they have grown accustom to.”

For Pool Scouts, the Dallas conversion marks the first time the brand is moving a fully operational pool company to the franchise model, but they expect it to be highly successful, in large part because of Blake’s level of experience in the industry.

“Mike Blake has been a pool professional for a number of years and joined Pool Scouts to bring his business to the next level,” said Pool Scouts President Michael Wagner. “This is Pool Scouts first conversion of an existing pool service business to a franchisee, and we are so excited to have Mike join the Pool Scouts family.”

According to Wagner, Blake purchased three territories in the Dallas-Fort Worth market with a high number of pool owners, a fact that should allow Blake’s business to achieve the growth he has been looking for.
