What is the No. 1 thing a franchisor/franchisee should look for when identifying the right franchise attorney?
Clients should look for a franchise attorney who knows how to close a deal. I find that many attorneys are impediments to progress. They get caught up in low-impact minutiae and wind up bringing risk to a deal.
When it comes to your work, what makes you happiest?
When new clients engage us based upon a recommendation from an existing client or another attorney. It makes me equally happy to help my existing clients continue to grow, with a front row seat to watch their continued successes.
What are your top concerns for the franchise industry in the next year?
Interest rates rising and the negative implications of some of the new tax legislation.
What are you most optimistic about in the franchise industry in the next year?
Being that I am now officially a Popeyes franchisee, I am optimistic that we will continue to outpace the competition in the fried chicken category!
