Mitch Richey was no stranger to the glass industry when he discovered The Glass Guru. After graduating from Purdue and completing a stint in the restaurant industry, he got into the window business. After selling window replacements for a while, he decided he wanted to do something more. Recognizing that he had dreams of being a business owner, he became a part owner in a billboard company. But Richey knew that the glass industry was where he excelled, so he found his way back there. It wasn’t until he came across The Glass Guru that he realized he could combine his passion for the glass industry with his dreams of business ownership.

After researching what The Glass Guru is all about, Richey knew that he wanted to become a franchisee. The Glass Guru offers a signature foggy window repair service that can’t be found anywhere else, and Richey knew that by tapping into that business model, he had the potential to achieve long-term success. But what ultimately sparked his interest as a business owner was the brand’s ability to provide consumers a one-of-a-kind service for an affordable price.

He said, “What stood out to me the most about The Glass Guru was the low cost for consumers. I came from the world of window replacement, where it can be very pricey. But The Glass Guru offers a repair alternative that’s very affordable. Right away, I knew it would be a hit.”

Richey was also drawn to The Glass Guru’s business ownership opportunity because of its unique position in the marketplace. By offering a low-cost service that’s consistently in demand, The Glass Guru is able to perform well even when the economy is struggling.

“The moisture removal technology that The Glass Guru has at its disposal is very unique. I knew that would be the key point of differentiation that would separate us from the competition. At the end of the day, that’s really what pulled me toward this business,” Richey said. “Our ability to repair windows means that we’re in a recession-resistant business. Even if the economy takes a turn, there’s still going to be a need for our services in the market.”

It’s clear that Richey’s decision to invest in The Glass Guru has paid off. Since launching his franchise in Northern Indianapolis back in June of 2010, Richey has only continued to grow with the brand. His business has increased by over 20 percent every year, and he says he doesn’t anticipate that trend stopping any time soon.

That type of success isn’t uncommon among franchisees in The Glass Guru’s system. That’s what’s enabled the brand to establish a strong presence nationwide. Backed by a system that’s currently made up of 87 locations, The Glass Guru has made a name for itself as a leader in glass services. That number is also expected to continue growing over the course of 2018—the brand has a goal of adding another 30 locations to its system this year, and is ultimately looking to have 250 locations in North America within the next five to 10 years.

Franchisees who sign on to become a member of The Glass Guru team can expect their initial investment to range from $67,050 to $184,000, including a franchise fee that falls between $17,600 and $65,000.

“I would honestly say that you don’t need to have a background in the glass industry to be successful with this franchise. When I look around at all of the franchisees in the company, they come from all walks of life. Instead, being successful comes down to putting everything you’ve got into it. Just like any other business, you get out of it what you put into it,” said Richey. “If I were a new franchisee doing it over again, I wouldn’t do anything different. The Glass Guru offers a concept that’s turnkey, and once you’re up and running, leads will start coming in.”
