QSR Magazine: Subway is Backtracking from Breakfast

With nearly 70 percent of customers saying the elimination of breakfast options would not change their dining habits, the brand is cutting its focus on the meal.

Subway has announced that its franchisees will not be required to offer breakfast at their locations. According to a recent article in QSR Magazine, the initiative was introduced during a period of strong growth for the brand. As Subway may need to shutter nearly 500 locations in 2018, the breakfast menu is no longer a focus.

This announcement follows the brand's current plans for a change in leadership. Chief Development Officer Trevor Haynes is currently filling the role of CEO as the brand seeks out a successor for Suzanne Greco.

Leadership isn't the only aspect of the company's current period of transition. Subway is also seeking to revamp its look to be brighter, offer digital menu boards and integrate technology more thoroughly into its locations.
