QSR: MOOYAH Burgers, Fries & Shakes Introduces New Presidential Option

The brand rolled out 'The Crandidate' LTO, complete with its own platform and website.

While most mainstream media is regarding the upcoming election as a two-candidate race, MOOYAH Burgers, Fries & Shakes* has recently thrown their Bird Party candidate into the fold, The Crandidate.

Complete with a platform on important issues such as condiment reform, a backstory and a fanbase, the Crandidate LTO embraces the lighter side of this season. The burger is an all-natural Jennie-O turkey burger, which is topped with real Swiss cheese, crispy fried onion strings, Ocean Spray whole berry cranberry sauce, crisp green leaf lettuce, and a touch of mayo.

Although the dish features holiday flavors, MOOYAH saw the potential for some fun, election-centric marketing.

"When we saw that one, it was just, OK, no brainer, that’s the one. It was that quick and easy. We were like ‘The Crandidate,’ oh, my gosh, that’s perfect,” VP of Marketing Natalie Anderson Liu told QSR.

The LTO remains non-partisan and keeps with MOOYAH's fun branding. So far the campaign has gotten more social media attention than any other in the company's history.

“We do not want to pretend like we are endorsing any candidate or feel like we are taking anything too seriously with this election,” Anderson Liu adds. “It is a very sensitive election. I guess every election there are strong feelings one way or the other, but this one is a little different. And we felt that we didn’t want to avoid it. We wanted to be part of the conversation. But in a way that was satirical, light-hearted, and hopefully makes people laugh. And our guests have completely embraced it.”

The Crandidate it kitted out with its own website, merchandise regularly sported by employees across the country, a campaign slogan and detailed platform.
