Journal Gazette: Sylvan Learning Franchisee Wins Brand's Highest Award

Kent Kolbow wins the Thrive Award, which is Sylvan Learning's highest franchisee award.

Kent Kolbow still sweats through the math and science tests on the behalf of the students he tutors. Kolbow owns and operates seven Sylvan centers in Indiana, which serve around 800 students. 
 
According to Kolbow, it's the most rewarding job there is. Just last month, Kolbow was the recipient of the supplemental education franchise's highest award, the Thrive Award. 
 
“There are a lot of things I love about the way he works and the way he runs his operation,” said Susan Valverde, vice president of franchisee operations.
 
Kolbow also has ambitious plans for the future, too. He'd like to own all 17 of Indiana's Sylvan locations when it's all said and done.
