When Ben’s Barketplace first opened its doors for business over a decade ago, it set out on a mission to provide man’s best friend with a healthier food alternative. But in order to make that goal a reality, owners Brad and Sally Romero realized that they had to start with educating pet owners on how to maintain their dogs’ health. That’s how the brand’s unique concept focused on bringing people and pets together was born.

Since its founding, Ben’s Barketplace has grown exponentially. That’s partially due to the booming pet care industry—overall spending on pet supplies is estimated to reach nearly $63 billion in 2016. But through its commitment to top quality, natural pet products and exceptional customer service, Ben’s has found a way to capitalize on that demand in a way that no other pet care brand has been able to match. And now, Ben’s is bringing its proven concept to new communities across the country through franchising.

The brand’s recently launched franchise opportunity gives entrepreneurs the opportunity to get in on the ground level of a business that’s proven itself to be successful. Based in California, Ben’s Barketplace is actively looking for prospective owners to open their own locations across the West in Washington, Oregon, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Texas and Arizona in addition to its home state.

“We couldn’t be more excited to start building and growing our franchise system. The door is wide open for entrepreneurs to break into the pet care industry for themselves, and with the help of our proven business model they’ll be perfectly positioned to succeed,” said Brad. “We’re starting out by growing close to home—we want to be on site to ensure a level of consistency across our entire franchise system and make sure that our high standards aren’t compromised.”

Because Ben’s Barketplace’s first franchise locations will be close to the company’s headquarters, new franchisees will receive unrivaled support. The brand’s corporate staff will educate its owners on the ins and outs of the pet food supply industry and the nutritional needs of pets before a new store ever opens its doors. Ben’s will also make sure that its stores are set up to provide the personal interaction and individual pet evaluation the brand is known for.

Beyond that support, Ben’s Barketplace is also incentivizing its new franchise opportunity on the West Coast. Typically, the total initial investment to open one of the brand’s franchises ranges from $189,800 to $352,050. That includes a flat franchise fee of $35,000. However, Ben’s is lowering that fee to $29,000 for the first five franchisees who sign on to open up their own location.

“Even when the economy is experiencing a downturn, people will provide for their pets, often foregoing products for themselves. That makes this franchising opportunity even more unique—our franchisees will be a part of a growing need-based industry,” said Brad. “We’re confident that Ben’s Barketplace will continue to thrive as we welcome passionate business owners into our system.”
