Footprints Floors’ Founder Talks Reasons for Franchise Success

Footprints Floors, the flooring installation franchise with over 160 territories across the nation, was launched by founder Bryan Park in 2008. In a way, the foundation of the business was accidental. Park recently joined Dr. Kathy Gosser on the FranchiseU! podcast to discuss this journey and dig into the details of the business that continue to drive the concept forward.

“I had a two-year-old, my wife was seven months pregnant, we were in the worst economic downturn since the great depression, flooring is a seasonal business — especially in Colorado where it snows… And that’s when I started Footprints Floors. December 9th, 2008,” said Park. “I started it from my garage, really out of absolute necessity. Where else am I going to go find a job?”

Though Park had previous experience in the flooring space, he had never independently owned a business. When he launched Footprints Floors, he knew he would need to succeed to support his family, and he leveraged his personal values to begin to gain traction and build a strong reputation.

Nearly 15 years later, the Footprints Floors model is almost identical — just larger. By centering integrity, trust and communication both among franchisees and between owners and their clients, the concept has grown to span 40 states, 175 territories and about 1,000 installations each day.

“It’s this idea of caring about people more than you care about yourself; love thy neighbor,” said Park. “If I really do put my customer before me, it solves every problem.”
