Eric Stavropoulos has always had an insatiable entrepreneurial spirit. He comes from a family of business owners—his parents have been successfully running a mom and pop style restaurant out of a strip mall in Connecticut for more than 40 years. After working with his parents and learning the ins and outs of business ownership, Stavropoulos decided to break out on his own. And with the help of Fresh Coat, the nation’s leading residential painting franchise, he’s now expanding his business.
“I’ve always had a fascination with franchises. I really think that’s the way business is going to be done in the future—more people are deciding to open up their own store or shop with a brand that’s backed by a national system,” Stavropoulos said. “I decided Fresh Coat was the right opportunity for me because it felt more like a family than a business. There’s no doubt in my mind that the corporate team would do anything in their power to help me be successful.”
That commitment to providing top of the line support is available across Fresh Coat’s entire franchise system, which currently boasts more than 120 units. The brand’s proven business model and expert painting services have created an unbeatable reputation among consumers and franchisees alike, ultimately creating an environment that fosters steady growth.
“From a consumer standpoint, it’s our service and professionalism that make us stand out. There isn’t another painting company that I would even consider to be our competition—we’ve set the bar incredibly high,” said Stavropoulos. “From my perspective as a franchisee, on the other hand, Fresh Coat offers a unique opportunity because of its unlimited growth potential. The brand has experienced tremendous success, yet there are still opportunities to take your own business to the next level or even expand your reach.”
Stavropoulos is taking advantage of that unique opportunity. Seven years after opening his first Fresh Coat location, he recently purchased the rights to develop the brand in another neighboring territory. It was a logical next step for him as a franchisee—multi-unit ownership allows him to expand his customer base and give his bottom line a boost.
But his decision to expand his business doesn’t stop there. Because of his success with Fresh Coat, Stavropoulos decided to pursue multi-brand ownership as well. His first Pet Wants location—which focuses on pet care and nutrition—is officially open for business. The brand is a part of Strategic Franchising Systems, the same parent company that oversees Fresh Coat.
“My goal has always been to grow as a franchisee—the opportunity is definitely out there. I’m a huge pet lover, so it was natural for me to expand with an animal-centric brand. When I found out that the Pet Wants team was linked to the people who have worked tirelessly on my behalf at Fresh Coat, singing a new development deal was really a no brainer,” Stavropoulos said.
