If you find yourself singing “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” at Yankee Stadium sometime soon, be sure to replace “peanuts and Cracker Jacks” with “Jersey Mike’s.”

Just in time for Opening Day, Jersey Mike’s Subs has been named the Official Sub Sandwich Shop of the New York Yankees.

“The Yankees are one of the premier sports franchises in the world and since Jersey Mike’s is a brand that focuses on being a sub above, we think this is a natural partnership,” Rich Hope, chief marketing officer at Jersey Mike’s Subs, said in a statement. “As we build out the Northeast and New York [designated market area], we feel the partnership makes a statement about our commitment to be a major player in the greater New York area. It also provides us with a branding presence in Yankee Stadium, which is one of the world’s most famous sports venues.”

The team at Jersey Mike’s went on to highlight how athletics has always been a vital part of the brand’s story. For instance, founder and CEO Peter Cancro gave up a football scholarship at the age of 17 to buy his first shop. Meanwhile, the brand has always been passionate about giving back to local causes, including community sports teams. And finally, Jersey Mike’s can count multiple professional sports players as brand ambassadors, including former New York Yankee Morgan Ensberg, who owns two Jersey Mike’s locations in California and has another on the way.

Of course, Jersey Mike’s Subs is also a supporter of the Professional Athlete Franchise Initiative, which aims to educate pro athletes interested in the franchising industry – a solid career choice for men and women who often have limited time on the field.

It’s clear this is a marketing coup for the sub chain. Yankee Stadium is indeed one of the most well-known sports venues in the world, and with Jersey Mike’s signage popping up all around it, it’s sure to give the brand a boost on the East Coast.
