If you’ve ever woken up past 10:30 a.m., you know you’ve missed your chance to score a McDonald’s Egg McMuffin with a side of hash browns. Fear not, my friends. The Oak Brook, Illinois-based company may start satisfying your breakfast needs during lunch and dinner as well.

McDonald’s has announced it is testing an all-day breakfast option at select San Diego locations starting next month. Logistically speaking, the brand has stayed away from serving breakfast all day because of limited grill space, as stated on the company’s website.

“They simply don’t have the room for all of our menu options at one time — especially considering we use our grill to prepare many items on our breakfast menu,” the website reads.

As part of its domestic turnaround effort, and amidst pressure from Taco Bell, which began serving breakfast last year, McDonald’s isn’t guaranteeing a full roll-out of an all-day breakfast menu, but will see how well sales do in test restaurants. Currently, breakfast items pull in roughly 20 percent of the company’s U.S. sales, so the brand has been spotlighting the menu through coffee promotions and marketing techniques emphasizing they use eggs they crack right in the kitchen.
