Nation’s Restaurant News: Marco’s Pizza CEO Wins Golden Chain Award for Brand Growth

Jack Butorac helped realign business interests and fuel growth for the pizza chain.

Marco’s Pizza was just a small pizza chain in Ohio back in 2004 when now chairman and CEO Jack Butorac acquired its franchise rights. According to a recent Nation’s Restaurant News article, Butorac’s goal was to become one of the biggest pizza chains in the country and the brand is on its way to doing so. By the end of 2016, the brand had 770 locations and is also one of the fastest growing chains in America, according to NRN Top 200 data.

“When I first tasted Marco’s pizza, what hit me was how good the product was,” said Butorac. “It had a great flavor. It had a lot of toppings. It’s a family recipe that hasn’t changed since it was started in 1978. It’s a fantastic product.”

Butorac knew Marco’s was already a great brand, but the biggest hurdle would be aligning area developers with management. Without this alignment, the brand would not grow. With Butorac’s leadership, Marco’s Pizza is now the seventh largest pizza chain in the country.
