Nation’s Restaurant News: Papa John’s Sees a More Digital Future

With first quarter success from digital orders, Papa John's executives believe the numbers will continue to grow.

After reviewing first quarter results, digital orders are becoming a large part of Papa John’s business. According to a recent Nation’s Restaurant News article, the company announced that six in 10 orders are coming from digital platforms, most of which are coming from its mobile app. Many markets are actually seeing more than 70 percent of orders come from digital from the first quarter results and executives feel than the number can continue to grow from the brand’s strategy.

“We have an opportunity to get to 80-percent-plus over the next several years here,” Papa John’s president Steve Ritchie said.

The opportunity is there because many pizza chains are starting to battle for this territory. Yum Brands! Inc. just announced a $130 million investment to help Pizza Hut beef up digital capabilities and ultimately sales.
