Ritter’s Frozen Custard, one of America’s most beloved and iconic frozen custard brands, is celebrating 25 years in the ice cream business. On Saturday, May 17th  the brand is throwing a birthday celebration at the Franklin, Indiana location. The Franklin store is the original Ritter’s location and is still owned by the founder, John Ritter. After perfecting their own frozen custard recipe in 1989, John and Bonnie Ritter founded Ritter’s Frozen Custard in Franklin. Since its debut, the demand for Ritter’s was something that couldn’t help but grow, which led Ritter’s to franchise the concept in 1995. Ritter’s Frozen Custard is still made fresh daily, using high quality dairy ingredients, and follows the standards of its original recipe. In April of 2008, Ritter’s came under the TRUFOODS, LLC umbrella in an effort to strengthen the brand’s presence. TRUFOODS, LLC buys up food service franchises that have halted prior to reaching their full potential, and aims to rebuild and revolutionize these brands with the guidance of an expert managerial team. "Ritter’s has great brand recognition and consumer loyalty," said Gary Occhiogrosso, President and Chief Development Officer for TRUFOODS, LLC. “Under TRUFOODS, LLC’s guidance, we're taking the brand to the next level and making it easier for franchisees to build a solid business by bringing new relevance to the concept with fresh products and leadership.” In order to stand out among the ever-growing quality-food-concept pack, TRUFOODS, LLC is currently in the process of implementing opportune changes, including an enhancement of the Pudgie’s Famous Chicken to Pudgie’s Naked Chicken Co. brand and increased franchise opportunities for Ritter’s Frozen Custard. To further upgrade the brands in 2014, Occhiogrosso will focus on the revitalization of the veteran company’s appearance, thus allowing for progression in previously untapped markets.
