Who’s Going to Win the Holiday Shopping War? The Store With the Most Instagram-Worthy Display, That’s Who!

Now, that’s something you can’t buy on the Internet.

Lately, online shopping is all the talk—even in terms of the upcoming holiday shopping season. Last week, CNBC reported that digital holiday spending is set to hit a record of $143.7 billion this season alone. In order to even attempt to compete with online stores, brick-and-mortar ones are going to have to get pretty creative this season.

Luckily for them, they may have thought of just the right idea.

According to CNBC, Kohl’s and Macy’s will unveil new, holiday-themed pop-up shops in an attempt to win the holiday shopping war. Kohl’s first-ever pop-up shop will open this coming weekend in New York. Shoppers can stroll through the store and even snap a photo with fashion designer Vera Wang on the runway, CNBC says.

CNBC also reported that Macy’s has turned all of its Story locations to have a holiday-focused theme, mimicking the feel of something between a winter wonderland and a cozy ski lodge.

Between the increased amount of online shopping and the six fewer days in between Thanksgiving and Christmas this year is putting the pressure on brick-and-mortar stores to deliver consumers something they can’t find online.

We’ll see how this pans out for Kohl’s and Macy’s, but seeing as you can find virtually anything online these days (even a date if you’re lonely), online shopping may just reign supreme.
