Wendy’s to Sell 500 Restaurants to Franchisees

The hamburger chain Wendy’s has announced that it will be selling about 500 restaurants to franchisees to reduce corporate ownership by five percent by mid-2016. The chain is selling the company-owned locations to franchisees to cut costs and fun a long-term image overhaul. The sale is expected to generate pretax proceeds of $400 million to $475 million and significantly reduce capital expenditure requirements.

Loves Pays at McDonald’s

McDonald’s has announced a new campaign to let customers “Pay with Lovin’” at their stores. From February 2 to February 14 at pre-selected times, customers will be given the option to “Pay with Lovin’” at their local McDonald’s. The “Pay with Lovin” campaign allows patrons to pay with a first bump, selfie, hug or other fun non-monetary payments. The fast food giant aired their new campaign during the Big Game last Sunday.

Cinnabon Names New President

Cinnabon COO, Joe Guith, has been promoted to president of the brand. Kat Cole, the currently Cinnabon president, will be taking on a more influential role as group president for FOCUS Brands. In this role she will oversee the business and growth of all FOCUS Brands. Cole and Guith will be working together under the FOCUS Brands umbrella to accelerate multi-channel development of Cinnabon, while Guith will be focused on core franchise business and corporate team advancement.

Online Ordering Increases 195% for Super Bowl 

Spanish pizza delivery orders are from last year during the Big Game last Sunday. Data from MotionPoint, an e-commerce operations management company for pizza brands, indicated that online order in Spanish increased by 195 percent during this year’s Super Bowl game in comparison to previous years.

Jamba Juice Raising Money for Cardiovascular Health

For the third consecutive year, Jamba Juice is raising funds and generating awareness for the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association (AHA/ASA). Through February 22, Jamba Juice stores nationwide will raise funds for the AHA through a customer donation campaign and by donating $1 to the AHA for each Energy Bowl sold to up $10,000.
