Pizza Hut Unveils Hot Dog Pizza Crust
Starting June 18, Pizza Hut will be serving their new pizza featuring 28 mini hot dogs wrapped around the crust. The Hot Dog Bites pizza is the latest effort from the YUM! Brands chain to boost flat same-store sales. The pigs-in-a-blanket-style pizza will be served with French’s Mustard and will cost $11.99.

Dunkin’ Donuts May Start Delivering to Your Door Soon
Another brand is getting into the on-demand delivery game. Dunkin’ Donuts has announced it has plans to begin delivering donuts, beverages and more to consumers. The brand has developed a mobile ordering app and is privately testing the service now. They hope to launch a more public test later this year, and start delivering next year. The franchise brand with over 8,000 locations will not be rushing to launch delivery to the entire system at once.

McDonald’s Same-store Sales Fall in May
Amid declining traffic and increased competition, McDonald’s Corp.’s U.S. same-store sales fell by 2.2 percent in May. However, global same-stores sales only dropped 0.3 percent, with sales improving in Europe and remaining weak in Asia. This will likely be the last monthly update from the brand, as the company said it would end its longtime practice of releasing monthly same-store sales.

The bagel is getting an upgrade at Einstein Bros. Bagels. The brand has introduced their new Bagel Toppers, a twist on the classic bagel with fun and innovative toppings. The new bagels are served open-face with a fun variety of schmears and other toppings to heighten the flavor. Customers will be able to mix and match any two halves, so no one will have to choose between sweet and savory.

Restaurants to Add 500k Jobs this Summer
According to the National Restaurant Association, this summer the restaurant industry is expected to add 522,000 jobs. If the projection holds, this will be the third consecutive summer for the restaurant industry adding over half a million jobs. The summer months are the busiest in some parts of the country, and to keep up with demands, restaurants will be looking to expand their staffs.
