White Castle Begins All-Day Breakfast
All-day breakfast fans now have another option; White Castle has rolled out its all-day breakfast menu to consumers. This is part of the Columbus, Ohio-based brands “Anything, Anytime” menu, which will allow fans to order breakfast sandwiches alongside the traditional sliders. This change comes a month before McDonald’s plans to offer all-day breakfast.

New York City Mandates High Sodium Labels
On Wednesday, the New York City Board of Health unanimously approved a measure that will make many chain restaurants put a warning label on menu items with high sodium content. This will be the first ruling of its kind in the country. The label will resemble a saltshaker with a warning sign on it and will be placed next to items that contain more than 2,300 milligrams of sodium—the daily recommended limit.

McDonald’s is going Cage-Free
U.S. fast food giant McDonald’s has announced that in 10 years it will no longer buy eggs from chickens that live in cages. This comes as many restaurant and food companies are making similar changes based on consumer demand. This decision is expected to impact egg supplies throughout the country with consideration of the Golden Arches’ demand for eggs.

Firehouse Subs is Expanding to Canada
Firehouse Subs is crossing the northern border and planting roots in Canada. The sandwich brand has announced plans to expand in Canada, and anticipates opening 90 locations in the Ontario market. The chain has 900 locations across 43 states and Puerto Rico.

It’s Pumpkin Season at Auntie Anne’s
Auntie Anne’s is getting into the spirit of fall by adding a new flavor to its pretzel line-up: Pumpkin Spice Nuggets. The new Pumpkin Spice Nuggets will be available for a limited time until October 31, 2015, and will feature a special blend of spices on top of fresh baked pretzel nuggets. In addition to the Pumpkin Spice Nuggets, Auntie Anne’s will also be adding a Pumpkin Smoothie to its menu.
