When I look back at pictures from my first job, my everyday outfit was a hoodie, jeans, flip-flops and a workout headband – and not a stitch of makeup. A casual environment is one thing, but dressing more casually than the office intern is quite another. Over the years, I’ve been lucky to have jobs with casual dress codes, but as I’ve worked my way up the ladder, I’ve made an effort to dress more professionally while not sacrificing comfort. I rarely have time to shop in stores, so I’ve bookmarked the below sites that make it easy to find good deals on work wear.

J. Crew Factory
I love a deal – and I especially love a deal online. Saving a few dollars and not having to go to the store? Count me in. That’s why I get most of my work shirts at J. Crew Factory. Practically every day, there’s a deal for 30 to 50% off the entire site, plus this site is priced cheaper than J. Crew. I love the shell tops and cardigans; they look and feel the same as J. Crew but cost much less.

Amazon
I have a pretty laid-back office routine, but I’ve found that investing in the right makeup is worth the splurge. I may not know how to apply it perfectly, but brands like Benefit, Nars and Urban Decay are often cheaper on Amazon. Plus, with Amazon Prime, you get free shipping on every order!

Gap

I’ve been shopping at Gap since elementary school – but there’s a reason why! Their jeans offer the very best fit for the very best price. With regular coupons and sales, you can score a pair of premium denim for under $100. Plus, The Work Shop makes it easy to stock up on work staples.

Rent the Runway

If you’re like me, you don’t have a dress in the closet for every single occasion. When I’m getting ready, I’m always scrambling and end up wearing the same few dresses. For work events, it’s much easier (and cost-effective!) to rent a dress from Rent The Runway. Designer dresses start at just $50! Pro tip: Browse accessories and jewelry to complete the perfect look.

Kohl’s
This one might surprise you, but Kohl’s has some awesome pieces if you take the time to dig! Over the last few years, Kohl’s has launched collections with everyone from Lauren Conrad to Vera Wang, which has taken the brand to a new level. With regular coupons, you’ll score a great deal and look like a million bucks.

Dressing for work is always about maintaining a balance of comfort, style and professionalism. Keeping the right online stores at your fingertips makes it much easier to put together a great outfit… while leaving the hoodie at home.
