Ad Age: Buffalo Wild Wings Declares ‘Sports Live On’ During Coronavirus With User-Generated Feed-Good Clips

Buffalo Wild Wings adjusts March Madness-themed campaign to focus on how sport lives on among Americans.

According to a recent article in Ad Age, Buffalo Wild Wings has adjusted its marketing approach after scrapping its March Madness-themed campaign when the tournament was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic. Buffalo Wild Wings quickly pivoted, collecting videos of sports fans keeping their passion for sports alive and airing those instead of basketball.

Buffalo Wild Wings ‘Sports Live On’ campaign compiles videos from sports fans across America practicing and playing from the safety of their backyards and living rooms.

“We’re a brand that connects people over their shared love of sports,” Buffalo Wild Wings Chief Marketing Officer Seth Freeman said in a statement. “And even though sports aren’t on TV, they’re still playing out in living rooms across the globe. So it was only fitting that we acknowledge them. And in doing so, hopefully make fans feel a little more connected.”

The end of the ad reads, “even when sports aren’t on, sport lives on.”
