Adweek: This Automaker Lets You Buy Its Latest Vehicle With YouTube Views

This technique increases online conversation around the brand.

It is now possible to purchase a car based on YouTube video views. According to a recent article in Adweek, Opal is encouraging fans to shoot videos of its vehicles with the promise that if the video goes viral, the views will count as payment.

Opal is offering three different cars as part of this promotion, each with a different value. If a fan is able to reach 589,900 views on their video, they will receive the most basic model. The most complex car is worth 922,800 video views.

This technique increases conversation around the company and any videos that do go viral will have the power to grow brand awareness.
