Amazon Plans To Shut Down US Restaurant Delivery Services

After shuttering UK services in November 2018, Amazon Restaurants is set to close in the US by the end of May.

When it comes to restaurant delivery, the options are almost endless. Amazon announced to GeekWire that they’re withdrawing their services available through the Amazon Restaurants website and the Prime Now app by the end of the month. “Many of the small number of employees affected by this decision have already found new roles at Amazon, and others will be provided personalized support to find a new role within, or outside of, the company,” said an Amazon spokesperson.

Along with Amazon Restaurants, Daily Dish is also closing, a service that delivered daily lunch specials straight to offices and workplaces.

Whether Amazon plans to make any further moves in the food delivery game remains to be seen. Companies like UberEats, GrubHub, DoorDash and Postmates continue to dominate the industry
