American Spending for Halloween Expected to Reach $9 Billion

Halloween spending is on the rise, with the average American expected to spend nearly $90 on the holiday this year.

Halloween is right around the corner, and Americans everywhere are investing in the celebration. According to a recent article in FOX Business, spending across the nation is expected to reach a whopping $9 billion. This will equal the record-setting spend seen in 2017.

“The economy is good and consumer confidence is high, so families are ready to spend on Halloween this year. Retailers are stocking up to supply children, pets and adults with their favorite decorations, candy and costumes for the season,” Matthew Shay, CEO and President of the National Retail Federation, said in a release.

The article breaks this spend down into smaller categories to reflect how the money is distributed. Over $3 billion can be attributed to costume spending, $2.7 billion goes towards decorations, $2.6 billion is spent on candy and around $400 million can be traced to greeting cards.

The average individual is predicted to spend nearly $87 on the holiday this year.
