Jalal Kapadia and his wife Shermeen are multi-brand entrepreneurs. They own about half a dozen businesses, from art studios to grocery stores, as well as real estate investments. When the couple began thinking about starting their next venture, Atomic Wings, the chicken wing concept with 75 locations sold, caught their attention.

The Kapadias are from New York — where the brand is based — and have an affinity for the brand’s delicious wings. The couple also appreciates that the brand makes Halal-style wings that comply with their religion.

“I grew up in Queens, and when I was a kid, our family would travel to Canada, and we would stop at the world-famous Anchor Bar in Buffalo. I have fond memories of that New York staple, and I know good wings. We thought this could be a great idea,” said Kapadia.

Atomic Wings makes good food! It is consistently great,” he added. “They cater to everyone; serving antibiotic, halal and hormone-free wings, which allows many different segments of the population to enjoy them. Our fresh never frozen product will bring a new experience to the Houston market!”

With a degree in hospitality management, a long career in food service and past employment with Sysco, Kapadia knew the venture would be a great fit. He signed on as an area developer for all of Harris County and hopes to start having restaurants open by Q1 of 2023. The Kapadias will operate some of the locations themselves and franchise others out.

“Ultimately, we plan to own and operate as many Atomic Wings locations as possible. Since we are the area developers, we have the opportunity to franchise out some of those locations and develop business-to-business relationships further,” he said. “We are excited to share the benefits of franchise ownership with our franchisees.”

As an experienced business owner who began some of his companies from the ground up, Kapadia said that having the franchise model already worked out is a major perk.

“There is a lot of work when you begin a concept on your own, and no one says you can’t do it. But going with a franchise, the vision drives the business. Looking at what they can deliver in terms of resources to support you is beneficial — from operational procedures to marketing and helping you stand out in the local community. You’ll be getting synergy and best practices. These companies know what has and hasn’t worked — they’ve tested it all out, and that is what you are paying for,” he explained.

He is excited to be a part of the brand and to work with founder Zak Omar, who Kapadia said has a “good leadership team and a great vision of where they are heading.” Atomic Wings has also been working on expanding in other major metropolitan areas across the country. Atomic Wings officially opened its doors in Dallas, TX this spring, and has area representative deals signed in Indiana, Missouri and Nevada with more on the horizon.

"The growth that Atomic Wings is seeing this year is unparalleled in the industry. With 75 locations sold, area representatives like Jalal play a major role in our growth. After a successful opening in Dallas, we couldn't be more excited to bring our brand to the Houston market,” said CEO Zac Omar.

The total investment necessary to begin operation of an Atomic Wings restaurant is $155,900 to $338,500. The total investment necessary to begin operation of a multi-unit developer business for a required minimum of three Atomic Wings franchises is $197,900 to $381,000.
