A minimum of three days of paid sick leave will now be required by all California employers, following Gov. Jerry Brown's signed mandate on Wednesday. The assembly bill, titled "Healthy Workplaces, Healthy Families Act," will begin in 2015 and will grant employees that work 30 days or more in a year a minimum of one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours on the clock. While Connecticut has mandated paid sick leave, it is only required for employers with 50 employees or more; this makes California the first state to secure paid sick leave regardless of the size of the employer. “Whether you’re a dishwasher in San Diego or a store clerk in Oakland, this bill frees you of having to choose between your family’s health and your job,” said Brown in a statement. “Make no mistake, California is putting its workers first.” Read more by clicking: http://nrn.com/government/california-governor-signs-paid-sick-leave-mandate
