Soon after he finished college, Logan Moore received devastating news: He had cancer. But, rather than let it control his life, he let it serve as a springboard for his entrepreneurial career. Logan fought hard and beat the disease. Soon after, he and his father, Michael, decided that there&#8217;s no time like the present. They signed for a 10-unit deal with Ritter&#8217;s Frozen Custard in January and will open their first location in June in Frisco, Texas. In their interview with Entrepreneur, the pair explained they chose this particular franchise because they feel personally connected to it. &#8220;To our family, Ritter&#8217;s is not just a frozen custard shop,&#8221; Michael told Entrepreneur. &#8220;It has an established place in our memory. It was our go-to ice cream shop after the movies, park or a Saturday stroll.&#8221; Just like Logan&#8217;s cancer battle, opening franchise locations has not been easy. The Moores explained that finding an ideal location that encompasses the brand&#8217;s values was challenging. And, by the time they open the location, they will have spent around $500,000 on the project. But with the help of other Ritter&#8217;s franchisees, the Moores have made their dream a reality. Once established, they hope to grow the brand in the Dallas and Fort Worth areas. In the event that their story inspires others to become franchisees, the pair offered, &#8220;Try to fund your business without debt if possible.
