CNN Money: U.S. Economy Adds a Strong 227,000 Jobs in January

America sees slight uptick in jobs in the new year.

In January, America added 227,000 jobs, above December’s increase of 157,000 jobs according to a recent CNN Money article. As more Americans started to look for jobs, the unemployment rate also ticked up to 3.8 percent.

While it is the first jobs report during the Trump administration, the Labor Department did conduct the survey when President Obama was still in office during the second week of January.

"President Trump is inheriting an economy on its way to full employment, but there is still more work to do," says Elise Gould, an economist at the Economic Policy Institute.
