CNN: Supermarkets Get Trump Bump. Food Prices To Jump?

Last week’s election led to market inflation for grocery stores, but more expensive groceries might not be as bad as it sounds

There’s a lot of “what if’s” here, but the way the market is heading, we can potentially expect to see prices at grocery stores increase. After last week’s presidential election, according to CNN, stocks for major grocery stores increased significantly.

“So what does going to the store to buy meat and potatoes have to do with Trump? Simply put, the market is betting that Trump's stimulus plan will lead to more inflation,” writes CNN.

While shoppers may be less thrilled at the prospect of more expensive groceries, CNN reports that if Trump’s financial plans put more money in consumer’s pockets, they’ll be able to afford groceries regardless whether or not prices increase.
