Snapchat is ready to do more than help teens send disappearing messages to one another. According to a recent CNNMoney article, Snapchat announced its first-ever hardware product, called Spectacles, with a built-in wireless video camera to record videos from the human perspective. In addition, Snapchat changed the company’s official name to Snap Inc.

Spectacles, Specs for short, have a 115-degree field of view camera on the frames on the left eye, which is larger than a smartphone’s camera. The glasses can record up to 30 seconds of video at a time compared to the usual 10 second videos from a smartphone within the app. Lights on the camera will light up to show others when you are recording and you can upload your footage from the glasses directly onto your phone.

The company explained in a blog post, "Imagine one of your favorite memories. What if you could go back and see that memory the way you experienced it? That's why we built Spectacles.”

The Spectacles will cost you $130 and will be on sale in the fall in the three colors; coral, blue, and black.
