Taylor Swift’s eagerly anticipated album “1989” may have just leaked all over the Internet three days ahead of its Oct. 27 release date, but that should only help Subway’s #MeetTaylor promotion offering the chain’s customers a chance to meet the megastar singer at her next concert. After purchasing a special Diet Coke cup at Subway, customers can either enter a special code on Subway’s website or its Subway Freshbuzz app to enter into the drawing for an opportunity to meet Swift. Fans can also preorder the album through the app, in case they don’t want to listen to a pirated version online before “1989” drops on Monday. Chances are both parties will be able to “shake it off” when it comes to the album leak. Subway gets a way to connect with a much younger demographic, including Millennial consumers, that might not go for the chain’s current marketing partners like Jared Fogle or athletes like Robert Griffin III. And Swift has worked with restaurant partners before to expand her brand ahead of an album release. She offered a similar pre-order of her last album, “RED,” through a partnership with Papa John’s Pizza.
