After a month or two of quiet, Papa John&rsquo;s is back in the news. 

After six months of deliberation, a Delaware judge has ordered pizza giant <a href="https://www.papajohns.com/franchise/?utm_source=1851franchise.com&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=court-grants-schnatter-access-to-papa-johns-records-2708919" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" style="text-decoration-line:none" target="_blank">Papa John&rsquo;s</a> to hand over internal documents to ousted founder and former CEO John Schnatter related to his departure from the company, <a href="https://www.nrn.com/quick-service/court-rules-john-schnatter-entitled-papa-john-s-records?NL=NRN-02_&amp%3BIssue=NRN-02__20190117_NRN-02__527&amp%3Bsfvc4enews=42&amp%3Bcl=article_1_1&amp%3Butm_rid=CPG06000007795822&amp%3Butm_campaign=27962&amp%3Butm_medium=email&amp%3Belq2=3c47a048e1184b48ae7a27c1281e8e75&utm_source=1851franchise.com&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=court-grants-schnatter-access-to-papa-johns-records-2708919" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" style="text-decoration-line:none" target="_blank">according to an article in Nation&rsquo;s Restaurant News</a>. 

The ruling is the latest development in <a href="https://1851franchise.com/john-schnatter-confronts-papa-john-s-board-about-poison-pill--2708256" style="text-decoration-line:none" target="_blank">a battle for control of the company</a> that began after <a href="https://1851franchise.com/the-latest-developments-in-the-papa-john-s-power-struggle-2707734" style="text-decoration-line:none" target="_blank">Schnatter&#39;s ousting last year.</a> 

<a href="https://1851franchise.com/john-schnatter-sues-papa-john-s-2707296" style="text-decoration-line:none" target="_blank">Schnatter sued the company last July</a> for access to the records related to the decision-making process behind his dismissal to determine whether the board &ldquo;breached their duty of care,&rdquo; according to the original filing. 
 
The NRN article explained that according to court documents, the Delaware judge found that because Schnatter is still a member of the board of directors and the largest stockholder of the company, Papa John&rsquo;s can&rsquo;t restrict his access to internal documents, and that Papa John&rsquo;s failed to sufficiently provide evidence that Schnatter&rsquo;s demands are improper.
