While home cleaning services have always been popular, the circumstances of the pandemic pushed the industry into overdrive. With increased awareness of sanitizing for germs and more people spending more time at home, the need to keep a clean house has become even more critical. According to OneDesk, 80% of households are expected to employ a residential cleaning service by 2024.

And while there are many cleaning companies out there, not many services use environmentally friendly measures like ecomaids. The 100-plus-unit cleaning franchise is “entirely green, eco-friendly, sustainable, plant-based, non-toxic, and non-corrosive. Everything we do is either recyclable or reusable,” explained Sharon Cupach, senior director of franchise development for Happinest Brandsecomaids’ parent franchisor.

While eco-friendly products used to be more of a consideration, Cupach said, it has now morphed into more of an expectation. People are more mindful of chemicals used in their homes that taint the atmosphere and its surfaces.

A Bona/Harris Poll survey of Americans earlier this year shows 83% said having cleaners with environmentally friendly ingredients is important to them, and 32% said it's essential. And a recent Smithers study shows that the compound annual growth rate of environmentally friendly cleaning products is outpacing synthetic cleaners by more than double.

ecomaids uses reusable microfiber towels rather than paper. The brand reduces waste by using less than a gallon of water to clean an average-sized home. All equipment is reusable or recyclable, and the franchise’s proprietary products are Green Seal certified, the highest global standard of certification available.

Clients appreciate the eco-friendly measures the brand takes in their homes. Cupach, an ecomaids customer herself, said that homeowners feel as though they are doing their part by hiring an environmentally conscious company, and their residences reap the benefits as well.

“They absolutely are appreciative of our effort. They love the fact that there are no unnatural fragrances. They like the fact that their pets can lick the floor. It gives them peace of mind knowing that they don't have to worry about toxins, gives them a lot of comfort, and helps them enjoy their surroundings more,” she said.

Using environmentally friendly measures is not only important for their clients, but also for ecomaids staff themselves. Chemical cleaning products are full of toxins and poisons that are harmful to the skin.

“There is ample scientific evidence of potentially harmful compounds in many household cleaning products and that it’s prudent to limit our exposure,” Susan Kennedy, professor of environmental health at the University of British Columbia, told Best Health magazine.

We don't greenwash. We really do walk our walk and talk our talk. We really are green. Our cleaning systems are based entirely on science. Everything we do has the planet and environment in mind,” said Cupach.

The total investment necessary to open an ecomaids franchise ranges from $110,990-$136,379. For more information on franchising opportunities with ecomaids, visit https://ecomaidsfranchise.com/.
