The COVID-19 pandemic set off a wave of life-altering changes for people all over the country. Some were displaced from jobs they’d had for years, and others took the time during nationwide shutdowns to reevaluate their career paths and think about the possibility of doing something different. Dan and Jamie Smith of Charlotte, North Carolina opted for the latter.

Today, they are the owners of the Lake Norman-Queen City ecomaids location. The environmentally-safe home and business cleaning franchise has allowed the couple to leverage their existing skill set to run a business that empowers others in the community.

“When things slowed down during the pandemic, we were able to spend a little time thinking about what it was we wanted to do,” explained Jamie. “We were looking for something that would allow us to bring our own skill set while maintaining the work-life balance we needed for our kids and family.”

The Smiths said when they went to discovery day with ecomaids, they loved the centralized support system afforded to them by Happinest, the multi-brand home-services franchisor behind ecomaids, as well as the operational flexibility that allows them to run their business in a way that works for their lifestyle.

“We are able to customize services for our clients while also giving back to the community and people who need that help now more than ever,” said Dan. “It’s an investment that benefits our family and is a way to give back to the community.”

Dan says the Smiths enjoy the ecomaids’ operational model and the support they receive from corporate leadership.

“If you don’t know what to do when it comes to the business, there’s always help,” said Dan. “If we have questions or run into any issues, there’s an entire team ready, and happy, to help us figure it out.”

The Smiths now have a business that not only brings employment opportunities to those in the area who are in need of jobs, but also provides safe, environmentally friendly cleaning services to keep homes clean.

“There’s no better time than now for a potential franchisee to approach their community with a solution that is safe for everyone and also unburdens clients,” said Sharon Cupach, Senior Director of Franchise Development for ecomaids. “Owners are able to welcome clients back to a clean, safe home.”

The total investment necessary to open an ecomaids franchise ranges from $121,560 to $147,615. For more information on franchising opportunities with ecomaids, visit https://ecomaidsfranchise.com/.
