Hiten Patel and his brother-in-law Jinal Patel, both seasoned in internet technology and the food industry, have embarked on an exciting journey as the new franchisees of Teriyaki Madness in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

At the Teriyaki Tour in Hendersonville, Hiten and Jinal were not only impressed by the rapid response and eagerness for growth but also fell in love with the food concept. Moreover, they noticed a lack of direct competition in their area, making it a standout proposition amid the ubiquitous sandwich, pizza and burger joints.

The brothers are no strangers to franchising, notably Subway. Both Hiten and Jinal were attracted to the comprehensive support a franchise offers. From marketing to management, the structured franchising model ensured they had all the necessary resources to set their venture on the path to success.

Looking forward, the duo has their sights set on expanding their portfolio to five units while fostering a robust team.

PROFILE QUESTIONS

1851 Franchise: Frame your personal story for us. What did you do before franchising, and how did you decide franchising made sense for you?

Hiten: I earned my MBA in Finance & I’ve been working as an IT consultant with the state of Tennessee in the health care department. I used to own a gas station and have experience managing a Subway franchise as well. After I sold that gas station, I jumped into the IT industry and ran IT consulting.

Jinal: I am working in IT as well. I recently graduated from Penn State with a Bachelors in IT. We decided to move to Tennessee a few years ago. In the past, my family also owned Subway restaurants, and I have experience running those franchises.

1851: What was your perception of franchising prior to becoming a franchisee, and what do you want people to know about franchising now that you are in it?

Jinal: We have experience in different franchises. As far as the perception of the industry, we like the support that we receive from franchises when it comes to marketing, management, etc. We know we have everything we need to make the business successful.

1851: What made you pick this brand? What excites you most about this company?

Hiten: We wanted to expand our portfolio together. Because of our family background, we have always had an entrepreneurial drive. We received a fast response from the TMAD team after reaching out. Some franchises never responded to us. We could tell the TMAD team was very interested in growth. When we went to the Teriyaki Tour in Hendersonville, we got a great response from the manager, who gave us a lot of details about the day-to-day running of the business. We also tried the food, and we really loved the concept. There is no competition in our area. Sandwiches, pizzas, burgers — there are a lot of restaurants here, but Teriyaki Madness is a unique concept and taste for Murfreesboro.

Jinal: We were looking at multiple different franchise concepts and doing our research. When we came across Teriyaki Madness and read about it, we decided to visit some local shops and gather information. We also went to the discovery day. The more we learned about the brand and talked to the team, the more we knew that this was the right franchise for us. We talked with the CEO, and we knew we wanted to be a part of the team. It is very rare to have the CEO talking to the new franchisee. That was very impressive to us.

1851: What do you hope to achieve with your business? What are your plans for growth?

Hiten: Our goal is to one day expand to five units, create a good team and extend the business in the future.

1851: What is the one thing about your story you want us to know?

Hiten: I am very confident that our previous entrepreneurial skills are going to help us grow the team. We have a lot of knowledge that we can apply to this business.

1851: What advice do you have for other people thinking about becoming a franchise owner?

Hiten: With my personal experience, there is a lot of help available when you sign on with a franchise. The TMAD team, for example, is always there to support you. You can always call or text. When we went to the discovery day, we dove into all the details, the real estate, the training, the vendors, etc. We felt like we were investing in an established business. The second piece of advice is to work hard and smart. Stay positive.

The investment required to invest in a Teriyaki Madness franchise ranges from $305,400 – $731,260. For more information, visit: https://franchise.teriyakimadness.com/
