Fast Casual: Blaze, Taco Bell, Chick-fil-A, Krispy Kreme Win Big in Harris Poll

The poll surveys consumers to measure brand health

EquiTrend has released the results of their 30th annual Harris poll, and a number of franchise brands fared well.

According to a recent article on fastcasual.com, the poll surveyed more than 77,000 U.S. consumers to assess more than 3,000 brands across more than 300 categories to determine the health of each brand based on factors including familiarity, quality and purchase consideration.

Blaze Pizza, Taco Bell, Chick-Fil-A, Krispy Kreme and Five Guys Burgers & Fries each were awarded the top honors in their respective categories.

While brand score averages remained mostly unchanged from last year, a news release issued by EquiTrend with the poll says a quarter of the brands studied in both 2017 and 2018 shows a significant decline in scoring in 2018.

Harris Poll CEO John Gerzema said in the release, “The EQ study reveals that brand equity is no longer guaranteed by size or media impressions. This is actually a time when being big is code for being the establishment. As private label and the popularity of craft products rises, brands are now differentiated on their values, personal connection and their ability to build community.”
