Snappy Salads is known for taking steps to be an environmentally conscious business. According to a recent article in Fast Casual, the brand replaced its plastic straws with paper straws three years ago and has since saved prevented the disposal of 1.3 million plastic straws.

"We are always looking for ways that we can lower our impact on the environment and hope others will follow our lead. Switching from plastic to paper straws did cost more but to us it was about doing the right thing," said Founder Chris Dahlander.

With an estimated 500 plastic straws being used per day in the United States, landfills are continuing to seeing the environmental impact grown. Making small changes, like the switch to paper straws is an easy way for franchise brands to adopt eco-friendly business practices. When implemented across the entire system, the swap can make a significant difference in waste.
