Former Wingstop Chief Marketing Officer Takes Over Korean Fried Chicken Concept

Flynn Dekker is appointed CEO of Bonchon succeeding founder Jinduk Seo

Founded in the city of Busan, South Korea in 2002, Bonchon has seen global success. The chain first landed in the states in 2006 with a location in Fort Lee, New Jersey. Since its founding, the brand has opened 435 units worldwide and 92 stateside. Bonchon is set to open 15 more locations in the U.S. within the coming year.

Flynn Dekker, a multi-unit restaurant industry veteran, will be taking the title of CEO from founder Jinduk Seo, who remains a shareholder in the business. Dekker was appointed by Bonchon’s board of directors and a company which acquired majority ownership in December 2018, VIG partners.

Bonchon’s authentic Korean roots have made a splash in the American restaurant industry, and Dekker believes the brand is slated for rapid growth. “My passion for Bonchon began many years ago when I discovered the brand on a trip to New York City,” said Dekker in a statement reported by QSR Magazine. “Bonchon’s commitment to serving a unique, quality product combined with its loyal, worldwide fanbase and talented team are just some of the reasons I am excited to be leading the brand,” said Dekker.
