According to a recent <a href="http://www.foxbusiness.com/markets/2018/02/08/dunkin-brands-to-open-1000-new-us-stores.html?utm_source=1851franchise.com&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=fox-business-dunkin-plan-for-1000-new-stores-faces-labor-shortage-2705490" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" style="text-decoration-line: none;">Fox Business</a> article, Dunkin&rsquo; Brands plans to add 1,000 new U.S. stores by the end of 2020. CEO Nigel Travis, who has been with the company since 2009, has concerns that he will not be able to find qualified workers to fill positions for their 8,500 locations across the country. &ldquo;The biggest concern I have is the labor shortage in this country,&rdquo; he said. &ldquo;The overall lack of people is worrisome.&rdquo;

Travis&rsquo; other concern is continued competition with giants such as Amazon, <a href="https://www.bk.com/franchising/home?utm_source=1851franchise.com&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=fox-business-dunkin-plan-for-1000-new-stores-faces-labor-shortage-2705490" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Burger King</a>, Starbucks and <a href="http://corporate.mcdonalds.com/mcd/franchising.html?utm_source=1851franchise.com&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=fox-business-dunkin-plan-for-1000-new-stores-faces-labor-shortage-2705490" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">McDonald&rsquo;s</a>, but he likes the challenge. &ldquo;Twice in my life, I have been fighting with McDonald&rsquo;s and I&rsquo;ve spent nine years fighting with Starbucks,&rdquo; he said. &ldquo;That&rsquo;s what makes us better.&rdquo; 

Even with all of these outside factors he is optimistic about the future and is excited for franchisees to spearhead the brand&rsquo;s expansion.
