Osmow’s Inc. is a quick service restaurant (QSR) chain with a modern take on classic Mediterranean and Middle Eastern dishes. Known for their Shawarma, Osmow’s offers chicken, beef, lamb, Beyond Meat vegetarian and falafel options, along with a handful of signature dishes, including its own version of Canadian’s classic poutine Shawarma Poutine.

“Middle Eastern cuisine, it hasn’t been franchiseable yet,” explained Ben Osmow, the CEO and head of franchise operations.

The reason? Osmow believes consistency is difficult to achieve on a large scale with Middle Eastern cuisine.

To overcome this challenge and ensure the quality of the food is consistent, his team completes all of the preparation from marination to packaging. Franchisees are only expected to cook the product and make sure the customer has a great experience.

How Many Osmow’s Locations Are There?

The Canadian family business has 160 current locations: 152 franchise locations and eight corporate locations. While most of the locations are in Canada, the first U.S. location in Miami opened just over a year ago. Two more in Miami have opened since, along with an additional location in Buffalo.

Immigrant-turned-entrepreneur Sam Osmow, who is also the founder, combined his education in accounting and business with his love for culinary arts and opened Osmow’s first location in 2001.

Sam is so dedicated to introducing people to Middle Eastern cuisine that he even bought the rights to National Shawarma Day on October 15.
