Tipsy Scoop is a franchise brand known for its alcohol-infused ice cream and sorbet. The brand creates artisanal ice cream flavors with various alcoholic beverages incorporated into the recipes. Tipsy Scoop was founded in 2014 by Melissa Tavss, who comes from a family lineage deeply rooted in the world of ice cream. In 1870, Tavss’ ancestors brought over gelato from Italy to Scotland.

Inspired by her experience in marketing and her passion for ice cream, Tavss first started making boozy ice cream in 2012. By 2014, she was catering events all over New York City. The demand for her product began to skyrocket, and Tipsy Scoop products were soon made available in grocery stores nationwide.

Tipsy Scoop’s first “Barlour” (bar and parlour) opened its doors in Manhattan in 2017. With the success of this location, a second was opened in Brooklyn. By 2022, Tavss saw the potential with Tipsy Scoop and is now officially offering franchise opportunities.

How Many Tipsy Scoop Locations Are There?

As of August 2023, there are three open Tipsy Scoop locations in New York and another three in development. The New York franchise currently has open locations in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Long Beach. What Is Tipsy Scoop’s Business Model?

The appeal extends to all demographics, as Tipsy Scoop also offers non-alcoholic ice cream options.

Tipsy Scoop also embraces collaborations with other brands, such as Margaritaville, enabling franchise owners to partner with local establishments to expand their reach, increase brand awareness and generate additional revenue streams.

“We are the go-to for sweet lovers looking for a unique dessert, cocktail or gift for any adult celebration,” writes Tipsy Scoop.

For interested parties, Tipsy Scoop is seeking franchisees who are passionate about the brand. Prior food or culinary experience is not required as Tipsy Scoop provides its new owners with all the training required to run their own Barlour.
